Yesterday the kids and I spent nearly the entire day at the park. Believe it or not, it was a lovely 83 degrees out most of the day, overcast and too good not to be out enjoying. Cole, Aria and Chloe packed the bikes onto the Element and we headed down to my favorite place to run- the Scottsdale Greenbelt.
We started out by the lake where we stopped to feed the ducks and play in the shallow areas.
It was nice just to be outside with the kids-- something we don't do much this time of year unless we're in a pool because of the heat.
They discovered this little island in the center of the lake with palms trees.
Initially they walked across the water to get to it. . .
. . . then carried big rocks over to create a bridge, so that I could join them on the island without getting my running sneakers wet.
The ducks were especially happy that they came!
After our adventures feeding ducks and playing in the lake, we went for an 8 mile bike ride (well- they rode and I ran). We stopped along the way to play on the playground, get a Gatorade and have dinner at Micky D's!
The kids were troopers- they didn't complain once! I think it was because they knew how rare our moment out in that beautiful Summer weather was.
Once we finished with our ride and played a little more on the playground, the kids went to the splash pad and played in the water for a while. It was a great way to end an exhausting, but fun-filled day in outside.
I can't wait for the monsoon to bring us another beauty of a day like yesterday! I'll tell you though- when it does, you know where we'll be!
Thanks for taking her, she had a blast. You guys are the best!
