Tonight we had our first date night in quite a long time. It was so much fun! We went out with a couple of our dearest friends, meeting them at the Hotel Valley Ho for drinks, then on to a new adventure.
There is a winery in Scottsdale called Su Vino Winery where we got a great deal of a flight of wine. $10 for a 1 ounce pour of 5 different wines. Not to mention the appetizers were beautiful and delicious, like the cinnamon crusted dates with goat cheese, or the mascarpone-stuffed strawberries drizzled with a balsamic reduction- yum! We all had some new wine experiences, which was perfect for a newbie wine-lover like myself, and really enjoyed ourselves!
Afterward, we headed to 5th and Wine, a sort of "family" restaurant for our friends, and had some more appetizers. We had been there a few times before. . . it's definitely something to come back for. They have great ambiance with their dog paintings and live music, really good wines and some unforgettable food. I have never had fries like they make them, and although I am not one who craves fries, I do crave theirs on occasion! Their hot wings are pretty impressive too, so we discovered tonight! It was so much fun and I hope we get to do it soon!
In the mean time, if you decide to venture out to Su Vino Winery, I have a few recommendations for you based on our tastings. Two of us are red wine drinkers, one of us is a white wine drinker and the last of us is not a wine drinker at all. ( I won't tell you who!) Here's some of the ones we liked the most: the Gewurztraminer, Ruby, Razzle Dazzle, Summer Rain (white) and the Porto Cocoa. Next time we go I think we'll try the wine and chocolate pairings! I can't wait!
