Taco Seasoning

Greg had planned on making mini tostadas for dinner tonight, and much to his disappointment, we were out of taco seasoning. So, Super Mom swept into the kitchen to save the day! LOL! We made a batch of taco seasoning using the ingredients that we had in the spice cabinet. Now mind you, I have a well stocked pantry, so if you plan on copying this recipe, you might need to pick up a few spices from the store. Otherwise, it was very easy to make and much cheaper than the packets you can buy from the store that cost about a dollar each just to make one batch of tacos.
Here's the recipe we used.

Taco Seasoning

4 teaspooons chili powder
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspooons onion powder
2 teaspooons crushed red pepper flakes
2 teaspoons dried oregano
4 teaspoons paprika
12 teaspoons cumin
8 teaspoons sea salt
8 teaspoons ground pepper

Simply mix all the ingredients in a bowl and store in an air-tight container. This recipe will fill a small mason jar (the kind used for jams). Add it to taste to your taco meats and Mexican food recipes.
