During my kids' Summer vacation, cooking can get a little tedious. In our home, it seems as though we are cooking and then cleaning up the kitchen ALL THE TIME! So, sometimes a little change-up adds the spice we need to liven up our meal times.
One of the ways we have done this is by making these Funny-face Pizzas. This meal is easy, healthy, and gets the kids in the kitchen helping out and having fun! With the use of veggies to make the facial features, it encourages those cheese pizza eaters to add some extra nutrition to their pie.
Of course you could make these funny faces on any homemade pizza, but the the ones shown below were created on whole wheat English muffins that were toasted before being topped with pizza sauce, mozarella and cheddar cheeses, and a varitey of other toppings. Of course we stuck them back in the oven for a while longer to melt the cheese before we served them.
For bigger kids who are allowed to handle a knife, you can give them large peices of veggies and let them have at it. But for littler ones, it might be helpful to pre-cut some mouths, eyes, and noses for them to choose from as they make their pizza faces.
However you choose to do it, just get in the kitchen and have some fun with your kiddos. You will create more than funny faces. . . you'll make memories for the both of you that last a lifetime!
