Some of the girls got to use the Cuisinart to shred zucchini for one bread.
They learned the proper way to scoop and measure flour.
They learned how to measure liquid ingredients over a bowl to avoid making messes.
They also learned how to carefully pour their mixture into a loaf pan and the importance of equal distribution for even baking.
A few girls got a chance to don a pair of oven mitts and handle the breads coming in and our of the oven.
They learned 2 different ways to sift flour and dry ingredients and the importance of sifting.
They also learned a lot about taking turns, patience, and cooperation.
Each girl had the opportunity to make a bread using the stand mixer and by hand.
They learned how to properly fold in the dry ingredients into the wet so as not to over mix the ingredients.
They learned how over mixing after the addition of flour can make a finished product tough, dense and heavy.
Most importantly, they learned how fun baking can be!!!!
Each girl got to take home a wooden spoon courtesy of the Meyers-Heussler Family and a box of fresh baked breads.
Great job girls!
